the universe is funny, really!

The universe really does have a sense of humor (a dark one), have you noticed? 

What's that Sarah, you want to start making some changes today?  Well, how about a welcome to your "new you" gift. 

And with that, I started my Monday sick and getting my period (4 days early!!).  Now, don't get me wrong, if I were told you can have 3 beautiful children, but in return you have to be knocked on your butt for 24 hours every month with crazy painful cramps, I would say bring it on.  But, did it have to be on this particular day?

Well, of course.  Because nothing plays out exactly like you imagine it, there are always little bumps in the road.  And really, this was a little bump, perhaps even tiny.  Perhaps I got exactly the lesson I needed yesterday.  If I am looking for excuses not to do something, I will always be able to find one, or even more.  But, if something is really worth doing it means revving up the engine and flying over those speed bumps and giving everyone a ride to enjoy, it sure is more fun than slowing down.

To summarize my day, compromises were made.  Exercise was passed on in favor of a walk.  Coffee was drunk (homemade mocha, yum) but soda was quit as well as processed sweets being given up on.  I think the soda and sweets made a difference.  I did not yell at my kids once yesterday, even though yelling would have normally happened.  I felt more calm when handling the tantrums and homework and two and a half hours at karate with a 3 year old to entertain. 

Today, will bring more challenges, and I will do my best to rev up my engine and make a few more flying leaps towards becoming the me everyone will enjoy a little more.

Note:  No children were run over by speeding over metaphorical speed bumps.  Please practice safe driving even if speeding over actual speed bumps is super fun.
